Club & Activity Descriptions:
A Cappella Club
Gives students the experience of participating in an A Cappella group, which gives them the opportunity to improve their musical skills and to work collaboratively.
Academic Quiz Bowl
This is a competitive, academic, interscholastic activity for which players attend periodic practices and then represent NHS at tournaments. Quiz bowl questions range over the entire spectrum of a high school curriculum and also include a certain amount of current events, sports, and popular culture. Knowledge is cool.
Active Minds Club
Empowers students to reduce the stigma of mental health disorders and to promote effective and healthy ways to seek and provide support.
Adopt A Dream Club
Seeks to engage the North High community in a variety of fundraising activities in support of chronically ill children via the Make-A-Wish foundation. The club works to create fun and innovative ways to donate time and money to Make-A-Wish mission.
Aid Our Troops Club
Raises awareness of the sacrifices of our U.S. military, supporting active, reserve and retired members and military organizations through fundraising. The annual troop supply drive, which yields between 50 and 70 boxes of goods each year for active duty members and/or vets at the Northport VA highlights AOT’s efforts.
Animal Rights Club
As animal lovers, we advocate for those without a voice, we fundraise through homemade doggie treat sales, coordinate supply drives, initiate petitions for causes that benefit our animal friends, bring therapy dogs to school, and much more.
Anime Club
This club gathers, discusses, shares, and analyzes all things anime…a style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children. All are welcome to join!
ARISTA
This activity works to provide the graduating seniors with the best yearbook they can create.
Art Club
Promotes and supports the visual arts in the school community by engaging students in art activities, fundraisers, volunteer opportunities and school-wide events.
Asian Cultural Club
Shares Asian culture through traditional and contemporary performances featured at our annual Asian Night event.
Astronomy Club
Fosters an interest in astronomy and aims to allow students to have fun together doing astronomical things. Lots of star-gazing involved.
Athletic Leadership
Discusses issues and concerns in high school athletics and strategizes to develop solutions to benefit our athletes and athletic programs.
Best Pals
This activity aims to provide social opportunities for our special education students. General education students partner with them to engage in typical activities to enhance their collective high school experience.
Bioethics Club
Discusses and educates students in the examination of ethical issues, such as genetic testing, anti-vax advocacy and Crispr gene editing. Students will prepare for debates for each class meeting.
C.A.R.E. Club
The mission is to provide a supportive environment to educate and raise awareness about cancer, and to also raise funds to help in the fight against cancer related illnesses.
Cello Club
This is a closely-knit group of gamba/cello devotees that care about their section with the orchestra and without the orchestra.
Chamber Music Society
The most intimate and sophisticated of all genres of musical performance, it takes a special variety of young musician to even attempt to study chamber music. This group plays and enters the annual Lincoln Center Chamber Competition and performs at many functions in and outside of school…including lobby music Fridays.
Chess Team
This group loves the game of chess and when they are not playing against each other, they are engaged in competitions against teams from other school. Players of all abilities are needed and welcome.
Child Foundation Club
Associated with the international organization, Child Foundation Organization, which aims to help underprivileged children in third world countries, this club raises funds so that children living in impoverished conditions can receive what they so desperately need from our community.
Classics Club
This club studies classic languages (Latin, Ancient Greek) and partakes in classical competitions called Certamen. National tests are also taken and the highest scores earn awards. Trips may include visits to prestigious universities with lectures and games. Students may join the Latin Honor Society, Greek Honor Society, and the National Junior Classical League through participation in this club.

Computer Science Club
This is the place to debate, discuss and discover the world of computer science. No previous experience required.
Current Events Club
CEU discusses and debates current events and issues that affect students, the United States, and the global community.
Debate Team
This group gives students of all abilities a fun way of developing their oracy skills. Different activities help students with their ability to think critically and communicate confidently. The club relies on older students to help to organize the club and advise the underclassmen.
DECA sets the stage for student competition in different business-related categories such as marketing, finance, hospitality and business administration. Depending how students perform at the local competitions, they can earn spots in more advanced competitions.
Digital Arts Club
DAC promotes and supports student interest in digital art-making and technology as it pertains to art. Activities include volunteer opportunities, skill workshops, contests and school/community design projects.
Epiphany
In a workshop-discussion setting, students produce poetry, prose and art for our school literary magazine, Epiphany.
eSports Club
eSports describes the world of competitive, organized video gaming. Competitors from other high school in the country face off in the same eSports sanctioned games that are popular with at-home gamers.
Find A Cure Club
The goal is to help raise money to support a variety of organizations/foundations that focus on finding cures for a multitude of disabilities and/or diseases.
Fitness and Nutrition Club
The mission of FNC is to improve the overall health of Great Neck North students and to correct misconceptions associated with fitness and nutrition.
Food Ambassadors
Learn about different cultures through the commonality of food, all while forming new friendships while you share and cook family recipes.
Foreign Affairs Club
Discuss and debate foreign affairs related to foreign policy, education, travel, finance and relations worldwide. Guest speakers and seminars enhance the experience.
French Club
Celebrate the French language and culture through a variety of cultural and linguistic activities.
Game Development Club
Design all of the elements of a video game (story, art, code, music, etc.) throughout the school year. No previous experience required.
Gender-Sexuality Alliance
The GSA aims to educate and spread awareness about the LGBTQ community, as well as establish as safe and comforting space for North High students that identify as part of this community.
Girls Who Code
GWC is a national organization that focuses on teaching girls to learn computer coding under its national curriculum.
Guide Post
Our fantastic school newspaper, Guide Post proudly produces fresh, original, and comprehensive coverage of the latest news surrounding Great Neck North High School and its students.
Hearing Connections Club
The goal is to promote awareness of the hard of hearing and deaf community who choose to use spoken language as their primary form of communication. Additionally, they raise money to donate to the AG Bell Foundation.
Hebrew Culture Club
The mission of the Hebrew Culture Club is to educate the members on the history and the culture of the State of Israel.
IDEA Collective
IDEA will be the student arm of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, a faculty committee working to support the district's mission of inclusion and equity. The IDEA Collective seeks to include all members of the school community, honor the diversity of all, improve equal access to community resources and advance the achievements of marginalized community members.
Innovations and Inventions Research Club
The IIRC explores and discusses breakthroughs in technology and the people behind them.
Interact
Interact is a Rotary-sponsored service club that gives students an opportunity to participate in fun and meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends. We support the Great Neck Rotary chapter.
Interior Design Club
Are you interested in being creative while decorating a room? Weekly meetings will include designing all aspects of a particular room. Students with an interest or passion for décor and design are encouraged to join.
Investment Management Club
Teaches investment concepts and strategies, follows the stock market, evaluates companies, engages in debate and brings in guest speakers who are movers and shakers in the industry.
Jazz Ensemble
A jivin’ group of guys and gals diggin’ the tunes of Miles, Coltrane, Dizzy, Monk, Sonny, the Duke and the Count. They perform at Open School Night, the Winter Concert, Winter Soiree, Artfest and Friday mornings in the lobby.
Jewish Student Union
JSU clubs were created for Jewish students to meet other Jewish teens while learning about their heritage. During the club meetings teens strengthen their Jewish identity and connection to Israel, while also learning about Jewish opportunities within their communities and future college campuses.
Junior Players Tech Crew
This group supports the theatrical, musical and the many other events that take place in the North High School auditorium.
Key Club
Key Club members around the world learn how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with our local Kiwanis club, students make a positive impact as they serve others in our school and community. Its core values are leadership, character building, caring and inclusiveness.
Latin American Culture Club
The mission of this club is to fundraise for the Great Neck Student Aid fund, as well as instill pride in the members as they learn of each other’s heritage. Behind a common language are very different cultures and different experiences that are waiting to be shared.
Law Club
Review basics of legal practices in the United States, as well as role play various cases to gain a greater understanding of case law and legal precedent.
Letters For Rose
LFR reduces loneliness among elders during the Covid-19 pandemic by creating and distributing personalized letters, art and donations for local nursing homes.
Life Club
The mission is to teach things that students do not yet know about, because they really don’t have to…such as how to rent an apartment, build credit, read lease documents, budget expenses, secure a loan, manage health care, and other things that await in the “adult” world.
Math Team
Lovers of math participate in written competitions given monthly as warm up for other NCIML (Nassau County Interscholastic Math League) competitions that are hosted at North High or other high schools.
Meditation/Yoga Club
Meetings usually consist of a short meditation followed by a yoga lesson.
Mock Trial Team
The Mock Trial Team learns all about trial law and competes in...you guessed it…mock trials against other schools in organized competitions.
Model Congress
Members learn about how government works through Congressional simulation. There are competitions and conferences available in most school years.
Model United Nations
Model UN participates in mock United Nations delegations. Students research different topics and countries that the United Nations debate and discuss. Students present and represent their given countries at a variety of conferences throughout the year.
Multicultural Club
The mission is to spread and elevate cultural awareness and appreciation at North High School. Together they share in Sutton’s, foods, and songs of the different cultures represented at NHS. The club culminates with hosting International Night where students and families share in song, dance, artistic expression, and foods.
Opera Club
The purpose of the club is to foster communication and friendship while furthering awareness and knowledge of Opera and promoting interest in the art form.
Peer AIDS Awareness Club
Raises money for an AIDS cure or vaccine and to continue research to benefit those already living with HIV/AIDS.
Peer Drug Educators
Throughout high school, peers are the most potent source of influence on affective and cognitive growth and development. Peer Drug Educators impact the school community by serving as role models for healthy decision-making, helping correct misconceptions, guiding students towards informed decision-making, influencing policies, and working collaboratively with faculty and staff to increase the quality and number of services offered to students.
Peer Mentoring
High school students work with middle school students on academics and social skills. Activities range from helping mentees study for a test, to helping with homework, playing board games, or even simply chatting and sharing advice on high school life. Mentors develop and hone leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
Percussion Ensemble
For those who like to pound and slam to make beautiful music together, especially when it’s composed by Murray Houliff and Karel Husa.
Photography/Videography Club
Members use cameras to produce photographs and videos through new and innovative techniques.
Pre-Med/Dentistry Club
Introduces students to all aspects of medicine. They explore lessons covering a variety of medical fields, conduct hands-on activities simulating medical operations and discuss possible paths for students interested in healthcare beyond high school.
Project Earth
The mission is to raise public awareness of topical, relevant and contemporary issues that impact our environment on a local, national and global scale.
Red Cross Club
A Red Cross Club provides you and your peers with opportunities to make a difference by addressing your community's greatest needs and developing leadership skills. Red Cross Club will empower you with knowledge and life-saving skills to help prepare your peers, school and community to respond to emergencies.
Robotics
Promotes engineering and technology through the building of robots and competing in nationwide competitions.
Science Olympiads
Aims to improve the quality of K-12 science instruction through exciting, competitive tournaments and professional development workshops.
Scientific Experiment and Analysis Club
Offers a fun and interactive way for students to scientifically experiment without the confines of a specific curriculum or the structure of a classroom lesson. Perform experiments, look at professional literature, predict results, and check the validity of these efforts.
Student Book Discussion (All Booked Up)
This group reads and discusses literature to deepen our understanding of literature, ourselves, and the world around us.
Student Organization
The purpose of student organization is to provide opportunities for students to engage, to learn, and to lead, allowing them to pursue their passions and interests with other students while developing leadership and organizational skills, all while helping to move the school forward in pushing a collaborative agenda.
Students Against Destructive Decisions (S.A.D.D.)
The purpose is to raise awareness and encourage positive decision-making regarding issues that teens face on a regular basis. Such as drinking and driving, drug abuse, healthy relationships, mental and emotional health, and bullying.
Table Tennis Club/Team
The club mission is to develop talented table tennis players by practicing and motivating students to be the best they can be. All skill levels are welcome.
The team provides coaching, game play, equipment and the opportunity to complete in tournament play throughout the state.
Teens For Tomorrow
Fundraise for organizations that support teens to develop their interests and further their education. Students participate in activities that promote literacy.
Time’s Up
Highlights women throughout history, addresses issues facing women and girls worldwide in terms of gender discrimination, sex crimes, domestic violence, etc. Raise awareness of the “Me Too” movement that empowers women.
Tri-M Chapter 2605
Tri-M is the international music honor society which recognizes and motivates musical achievement. Our Tri-M members perform services (musical and non-musical) for the North High students and staff, as well as district-wide and community-wide audiences.
TV North
Learn skills pertinent to producing television content. Help chronicle school events, theatrical productions, concerts, sports, etc.
