North High School junior Dale Yang has been selected to perform in the New York State School Music Educators Association (NYSSMA) Piano Showcase, part of the 2024 All-State Winter Conference.

There were 148 applicants for this year’s showcase and only 11 musicians were chosen for this prestigious honor. Dale will perform Ballade No 2 in F Major, Op. 38, by Chopin.

Dale was nominated for this honor by Jacquelyn Tomlet, North High band director, who wrote a letter of recommendation on his behalf. In addition being a talented pianist, Dale also plays the flute in the school band.

The NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference, which will be held from Dec. 5–8 in Rochester, features various performances by the state’s finest student musicians as individuals and in ensembles. The Piano Showcase will take place on Friday, Dec. 6.
