Honoring Our Veterans!

In celebration of Veterans Day, the Aid Our Troops club at North High School hosted its fourth annual Honoring Our Veterans event on November 8. On the school's front lawn, North High students and staff were joined by school administrators, Board of Education trustees, elected officials, members of the Alert and Vigilant volunteer fire departments, and representatives from the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) for a special ceremony to honor Captain William G. Fell, Jr.

Captain William G. Fell, Jr. currently serves as the Deputy Director of Physical Education and Athletics at the USMMA in Kings Point. He has worked at the USMMA for the past 20 years. Representatives from the Aid Our Troops club expressed their appreciation for his service to our country, as well as his support for their club's activities at North High School. Captain Fell is a native of Rootstown, Ohio, and he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1978. His career includes 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, followed by six years as a college administrator and high school teacher before joining the USMMA in 2004. Support Our Troops club officers presented Captain Fell with an American flag flown over the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, as a symbol of their gratitude for his service to our country and our community.

Under the guidance of faculty advisor Mr. Ceasar, the Aid Our Troops Club raises awareness of the service and sacrifice of all members of the United States Armed Forces. The club supports active, reserve, and retired members and military organizations through fundraisers, drives, and events within the school community.
