Aid of Troops Club Memorial Day Event

On Friday, May 23, the Aid our Troops club hosted its fourth annual Memorial Day event to recognize distinguished service men and women from Great Neck.  This year's honoree is Staff Sergeant Carlos E. Gallo, Jr. A graduate from the NH Class of 2012 and a decorated member of the US Marine Corps.

In the school's auditorium, North High students and staff were joined by Ssgt Gallo's family and friends, district administrators, elected officials, representatives from the Merchant Marine Academy, and volunteers from the Art and Vigilant Fire Department.

During the ceremony, Aid Our Troops club officers spoke about their club's work to support, recognize, and thank service men and women who serve our nation. After sharing details about SSgt Gallo's impressive career with the US Marine Corps, the students presented SSgt Gallo and his father, Alert Fire Chief Carolos Gallo, with American flags flown over the Capital Building in Washington, DC, as a symbol of their gratitude for their service to our country and our community.

Under the guidance of faculty advisor, Mr. Ceasar, the Aid our Troops club raises awareness of the service and sacrifice of all members of the US Armed Forces.  The club supports active, reserve, and retired members of the military organizations through fundraisers, drives, and events within the school community.
