Dear 11th and 10th Grade Students and Parents,
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered on Saturday, October 26th at North High School. All juniors who are considering attending college upon graduation from high school are encouraged to take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test which serves as practice for the SAT and as a qualifier for National Merit Scholarship consideration. The test is also being offered to sophomores to provide the experience in advance of junior year standardized testing.
The PSAT will be offered as a digital test and students will be taking the exam on their school issued IPADS via the Bluebook app. Students who register for the PSAT should report to North High by 7:30 AM and testing should be completed sometime around 11 AM (unless testing with accommodations).
Registration for this exam is now open and should be done via the Google form link below and payment should be made electronically through the Parent Portal. Payment instructions can be accessed via the link on the Google Form. The fee for the PSAT is $25.00 and payment can be made on-line via credit card or by providing checking account information. Please enter your payment confirmation code on the Google form and then submit to complete registration for the exam. Registration closes on Tuesday, October 8th at 2 PM. We are unable to accommodate late registrants.
Once payment is made, the form is submitted, and your child is registered, he or she should:
- Download the Bluebook App from the Mosyle catalog
- Review the PSAT student guide
Those testing should report to North High on Saturday, October 26th by 7:30 AM. Students should bring their student IDs (as always), IPAD fully charged, IPAD charger, pens and pencils, calculator is optional (there is a calculator built into the digital test).
Sincerely,
Michael Neary
Director of Guidance
P.S. Those approved for testing accommodations by the College Board should have received notification. Unless a student is approved by the College Board, the PSAT and SAT must be taken under regular testing conditions. If you have any questions in regard to testing accommodations or payment, please see your school counselor.
For those unable to test on a Saturday due to religious observance, there will be a limited number of spots available for testing on Wednesday, October 23rd with priority given to juniors.
